Scholarship

Since 1980 Duck River Garden Club has awarded at least one scholarship per school year to deserving high school seniors who reside in Lyme or Old Lyme.  Applying students must study horticulture, agriculture, botany, landscape design, environmental studies, ecology or related fields of study.  Following interviews by the scholarship committee, recipients are selected and announced in May.  Applications are on file with guidance offices at LOLHS and The Williams School in New London.  If there are no graduating seniors eligible in a given year, the scholarship may be offered to the previous year’s recipient to assist in his/her sophomore year providing he/she has good academic standing and is continuing in a related field of study.  Or, if no eligible applicants apply, the scholarship may be offered to a deserving college student who is currently studying in one of the required fields.
